After three years of work, the Petah Tikva’s ecological park opened to the general public on Tuesday.
“I am excited about the opening of the lake and the completion of the work, and in recent years we have expanded the leisure opportunities for Petah Tikva residents,” Mayor Itzik Braverman said in a statement.
“The park will create a place that is enjoyable and pleasant. I believe that the unique lake and park will be among the most successful and beloved attractions of the city’s residents.”
The renewed park is part of a future urban layout of green spaces that will stretch from the city center to the north, creating a sprinkling of green spaces in the periphery of Tel Aviv’s Hayarkon Park.

The park surrounds a 1.4-hectare lake and will offer recreational space to residents and visitors, including seating on the bank of the lake and hiking trails. Eventually, boat rentals, cycling paths, fitness complexes and a restaurant with a roof observation deck will open as well.
Because the lake is an ecological lake, it might appear green for the first few weeks because of the seaweed. However this is safe for animals, trees and people.
The lake was designed by the same architects of the Tel Aviv Port and Tel Aviv Promenade, Mayslits Kassif Architects.
