Terrorist planning to detonate IED in Moscow synagogue shot by FSB
The suspect had planned to travel to Afghanistan and join a terrorist group following the attacks, the FSB stated.
Security officers shot and killed a terrorist who was planning to detonate explosives in Moscow at a synagogue and a subway station, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) reported Monday.
The terrorist, a Russian citizen from a Central Asian nation, shot at the officers when they came to arrest him, it said.
He had conducted reconnaissance of his targets and acquired components to make improvised explosive devices, the FSB said.

Details of investigation
After carrying out the attack, the terrorist intended to go to Afghanistan and join a terrorist organization he had sworn allegiance to, it said.In addition to chemical and mechanical components for IEDs, the security officers discovered firearms at the terrorist’s residence, the FSB said.
