Police in Pensacola, Florida, found that there were no signs of an active shooter, and no one was injured after responding to reports of gunfire at the Pensacola Naval Air Station (NAS), the police announced in an official Thursday X/Twitter post.

"Law enforcement conducted a sweep of Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola and Corry Station in response to reports of an active shooter situation. They have reported that there are no signs of an active shooter, and the area is determined ALL CLEAR," the post read.

The NAS Pensacola had announced the initial report a few hours prior, stating that police were responding to the situation.

"Our security team is responding swiftly and expertly with out local law enforcement," Capt. Chandra Newman said in a statement. "Our concern is always the safety and welfare of our service members and their families."

Large law enforcement presence

Initial photos and videos from the scene depicted a significant law enforcement presence responding to the incident.

NAS Pensacola, located in Escambia County, serves as the home base for the Navy's Blue Angels.

The base hosts more than 16,000 military personnel and approximately 7,400 civilian employees, according to the US Department of Defense.
