Jennifer Garner speaks openly about aging and cosmetic procedures
Garner: "I want to age. I want to be 100 years old. I don't expect to look the same at 100 as I do today."
Jennifer Garner, acclaimed actress and Neutrogena ambassador, recently opened up about her views on aging gracefully and her perspective on cosmetic procedures. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Garner expressed a desire to embrace each year of her life fully. "I want to age. I want to be 100 years old. I don't expect to look the same at 100 as I do today. I want every bit of those 100 years and to feel great about it," she said.
Despite her acceptance of aging, Garner admitted that she has pondered the potential use of cosmetic procedures. "I still haven't needed it, but I can't say I haven't asked doctors before: 'Do I need to do this?'" she revealed. While she has considered options like Botox, she hasn't deemed them necessary at this point in her life. "I don't go overboard with procedures; Botox doesn't work very well for me; that's why I often wear bangs. I often furrow my forehead, and that leaves a mark," she explained.
Garner emphasizes that she holds no judgment towards others' choices regarding cosmetic enhancements. "I don't judge whatever makes anyone look or feel their best." When it comes to those considering such procedures, she offers prudent advice: "Find someone fantastic and proceed with caution," she advised.
The actress attributes part of her relaxed attitude toward her appearance to her upbringing. "Part of the gift of being my mother's daughter is that I haven't spent much time anxious about my appearance," Garner shared. She admits that she doesn't spend excessive time focusing on how she looks. "I haven't spent a lot of time stressing about my physical appearance. I don't spend a lot of time in the mirror." However, she acknowledges the drawbacks of this approach. "Sometimes I could spend more time in the mirror; I'm sure I've had things in my teeth or a bump in my hair. So there are pluses and minuses to it."
"I'm very grateful to be exactly this age. I'm trying to soak it up. I feel like I'm living in my power. I'm living in my wisdom. I'm living in my joy and my capacity to do and get things done," she said.
Garner, who shares three children with ex-husband Ben Affleck, aldo commented on having teens. "I had no idea how much I was going to love having teenagers. They just make me laugh," she remarked.
Garner credits a consistent skincare regimen and a dedicated workout routine for her look. Having worked as an ambassador for Neutrogena for over 17 years, she was a fan of the brand since childhood. "I used Neutrogena as a little girl. I have two sisters, and we used the beauty bar exclusively in our house," she recalled.
