Netanyahu says pressure on Hamas effective, IDF intercepts missile from Yemen

The military pressure Israel is applying on Hamas is working, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a government meeting on Sunday. 

"It’s working because it operates simultaneously: on one hand, it crushes Hamas’s military and governmental capabilities, and on the other, it creates the conditions for the release of our hostages. That’s exactly what we’re doing," he added. 

"We are committed to bringing the hostages back, and we are working to bring the hostages back. To this day, the combination of military and diplomatic pressure is the only thing that has led to the return of hostages," Netanyahu further noted.

Families of hostages led a prayer for the return of the hostages held in Hamas captivity on Sunday outside Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer's home in Jerusalem.

"Minister Dermer, the responsibility is in your hands. Your highest mission is to bring about a comprehensive agreement to save 59 lives - to rescue them from the very real and immediate danger of death and disappearance," they stated. 
 
 
  

The Red Cross said on Saturday that it is gravely concerned about the fate of nine Palestine Red Crescent ambulance crew members who have reportedly been missing for seven days in Gaza.

The Red Cross said in a statement it has not had any contact with the crew since they came under heavy fire while operating in Rafah in the early hours of March 23. 

"It is vital that there is information and access to ensure the safe return of these humanitarians to their families who are in a nightmare without knowing if their loved ones are alive," the Red Cross added.

 Hamas has agreed to a Gaza ceasefire proposal it received two days ago from mediators Egypt and Qatar, the Palestinian group's chief said on Saturday.

Israel has conveyed its counter-offer to the Gaza deal mediators in full coordination with the US, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement Saturday evening, following reports that Hamas agreed to the Egyptian proposal to release five live hostages.

The IDF located some of the remains of hostage Meny Godard, 73, who had been kidnapped from Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7, 2023, by Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists, the military announced Saturday evening.
