The Beit Lessin Theater recently performed before two sold-out audiences in South Korea for the first time.

The Tel Aviv-based theater staged its production of Antigone by Jean Anouilh (in a Hebrew version by Roy Chen), presented as part of the Busan International Performing Arts Festival. This marked the first time an Israeli play was performed at this festival and at any performing arts festival in South Korea.

Beit Lessin to return to international theatre festival

The production, directed by the theater’s resident director, Yair Sherman, received enthusiastic acclaim from local audiences, media, and festival organizers, who have already extended an invitation for Beit Lessin to return next year.

Due to a prior commitment, actor Sasson Gabai, who plays Creon in the Israeli production, was unable to travel and was replaced by Yoram Toledano, who originally played the role of the Chorus in Israel.
