The Room Dances Festival provides a platform for artists whose aspirations were not to fill an enormous theater but to come into close contact with an intimate audience.

“I dance the song of awakening and of love, the song of the first goodbye, the song of solitude, yesterday’s song, fear’s song and heaven’s song,” she says.

“My personal story with Israel goes farther back than Exposure,” laughs Letukaite. “My ex-husband is a Polish composer who used to make work with Ohad Naharin when he lived in New York City."
